Common Error Codes
  • Error 1 – problems have occurred that are related to the test strip.  (Retest using a new strip.)
  • Error 2 – the test strip may have been removed too early or the sample may not be blood or control solution.  (Retest using a new strip ensuring that the test site is clean.)
  • Error 3 – the meter has detected that the test strip is in poor condition.  (The test strip may have been improperly stored – eg hot or humid conditions; may be expired;may have been mishandled by vigorous bending or shaking; the test strip may be covered in grease, oil or lotion; the test strip port connector may be dirty).  Do not used test strips that are expired or 90 days after first opening the vial.  (Retest using a new strip – a new vial of strips may be required; if error code still persists customer will need to contact Sanofi Customer Care.)
  • Error 4 – Unusual test strip problems have occurred that my be related to extreme conditions.  (Retest where it is closer to a room temperature of 21°C to 24°C.)
  • Error 5 – the meter was unable to produce a reliable result.  (This may be caused by a non-blood sample, or a combination of high glucose and other medical conditions.)  If this error reoccurs on retesting, the customer should consult a healthcare professional.)
  • Error 6 – the test strip has taken too long to generate a signal.  (This may have been caused by a combination of cold operating temperature and high hematocrit levels.  Retest in a warmer location.)  If the error codes persists, the customer should contact Sanofi Customer Care.)
  • Error 7 – problems beyond the customer’s control.  Customer needs to contact Sanofi Customer Care.)
  • Error 8 – a problem has occurred related to the meter hardware.  (This may be caused by connecting a power adapter to the meter while testing – customer should disconnect power and retest.  If problem persists, customer will need to contact Sanofi Customer Care.)

TROUBLESHOOTING

Possible causes if the meter does not display the “Apply Sample to Test Strip” animation after inserting a BG*Star Test Strip:

  • the meter’s battery has insufficient power.  (Customer should recharge meter immediately.)
  • the test strip has been inserted upside down, wrong end in or incompletely inserted into the meter.  (Remove strip and re-insert correctly and fully.)
  • defective meter or defective test strips.  (Customer should contact Sanofi Customer Care.)
  • blood or foreign objects put into the meter test strip port.  (Customer should contact Sanofi Customer Care.)

Possible causes if, after applying the blood sample, the meter doesn’t begin the “Calculating” animation (1,2,3 countdown) and no test result is displayed:

  • defective test strip.  (Retest using a new test strip and if problem persists, customer should contact Sanofi Customer Care.)
  • sample was applied after 4 minutes of inserting test strip.  (Customer should retest using a new strip being sure to wait for the “Apply Sample to Test Strip” animation appears on the display screen before applying the blood sample.)
  • defective meter.  (Customer should contact Sanofi Customer Care.)
