Common Error Messages:
- LO – customer may have a very low blood sugar level (severe hypoglycemia), below 1.1 mmol/L – they should treat immediately according to health professional’s recommendations. (Although this message could be due to a test error, it is safer to treat first and then do another test.)
- HI – customer may have a very high blood sugar level (severe hyperglycemia), above 33.3 mmol/L – they should recheck their glucose level. If the result is EXTREME HIGH GLUCOSE again, they should obtain and follow instructions from their health care professional without delay.
- Hi.t – the meter is too hot (above 44°C) to perform a test. The customer should move the meter and test strips to a cooler area and retest when both meter and strips are within the operating range of 6-44°C. Testing can proceed if another Hi.t message is not received.
- Lo.t – meter is too cold (below 6ºC) to perform a test. The customer should move the meter and test strips to a warmer area and retest when both meter and strips are within the operating range of 6-44°C. Testing can proceed if another Lo.t message is not received.
- Er 1 – there is a problem with the meter. Customer should not use the meter and should immediately contact OneTouch Customer Service on 1800 543 372.
- Er 2 – either a used test strip was reinserted or there is a problem with the meter or test strip. Customer should repeat the test with a new test strip and if the message continues they should then contact OneTouch Customer Service on 1800 543 372.
- Er 3 – the blood or control solution sample was applied before the meter was ready. Customer should repeat the test with a new test strip and apply the blood or control solution only after the flashing blood drop icon
appears on the display. If this message continues to appear the customer should contact OneTouch Customer Service on 1800 543 372.
- Er 4 – one of the following may apply:
- Not enough blood or control solution was applied or more was added after the meter began to count down
- The test strip may have been damaged or moved during testing
- The sample was improperly applied
- There may be a problem with the meter
The customer should repeat the test using a new test strip and ensuring that the blood or control solution is applied correctly. If the message continues they should contact OneTouch Customer Service on 1800 543 372.
Er 5 – the meter has detected a problem with the test strip such as it is damaged. Customer should repeat the test with a new test strip, ensuring the blood or control solution is applied correctly.
Meter battery power is low but there is still enough power to perform a test – customer should replace the battery as soon as possible. The flashing low battery icon will continue to appear until the battery is replaced.
There is not enough battery power to perform a test. Customer should replace the battery immediately.
No result in memory, such as the first time use or when the customer has chosen to delete all the results after downloading to a computer. Customer should contact OneTouch Customer Service on 1800 543 372 unless it is the first use of the meter. A test can still be performed with an accurate result.
